Teachers leading Mentoring
This module aims to provide an introduction to mentoring for teachers in primary and post-primary schools.
It will serve as an initial education to develop participants’ knowledge about mentoring and capacities to mentor.
The module will include an overview of the relevant national policy context; international research and theoretical underpinnings of mentoring for teachers at initial, induction and in-service career stages (ITE, Droichead, Cósan), with a specific focus on co-operating teachers working with student teachers during school placement. students engaged in learning can be one of the hardest things to do while you are teaching.
Project Title: Immersive Technology in Education: A Collaborative Learning Initiative
This innovative online short course on Immersive Technology in Education is by co-funded by the School of Education UCD, the Learning Enhancement Project and the Ubuntu Network. It stems from the research of Rachel Farrell, UCD School of Education, in the area of democratic pedagogical partnerships in teacher education and is designed and facilitated by Mark Baldwin of SchooVR.
The aim of the course is to foster an appreciation of the emerging role of immersive technology in education and to provide student teachers, subject methodology lecturers and co-operating teachers with a dynamic, innovative forum in which to explore the potential for immersive technology to optimise teaching and learning. Under the guidance of expert Mark Baldwin, participants will explore how immersive technology can be effectively used to interrogate Development Education and the Global Goals for Sustainable Development. SCOTENS: Exploring Virtual Reality in Teacher and Compulsory Education
This online course on the use of Virtual Reality in Initial Teacher and Compulsory Education is derived from a two year SCOTENS funded project entitled Virtual Reality in Teacher Education (VRITE). The project consortium consists of academic institutions from four Universities on the island of Ireland (Dublin City University (DCU), Queens University (QUB), University College Dublin (UCD) and Ulster University (UU).
