Collaborative Innovations for Sustainable Futures
The Collaborative Innovations for Sustainable Futures module is an interdisciplinary educational initiative designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to address global challenges through sustainable practices. This module, offered to PME 1 and PME 2 students, combines online learning with face- to-face immersive experiences, fostering a deep understanding
of sustainability issues. The project exemplifies inter-university, cross-university, and cross-community collaboration, bringing together participants from UCD and South East Technological University (SETU), as well as diverse community partners. Through design thinking methodologies and collaborative projects, students develop innovative solutions to real-world problems. The module emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, critical thinking, and practical application of Global Citizenship Education (GCE) principles, preparing future educators to integrate sustainability into their teaching practices effectively.
These artefacts include an array of resources developed for the Collaborative Innovations for Sustainable Futures interdisciplinary module. It comprises lecture materials that illustrate the application of design thinking and interdisciplinary approaches to addressing global challenges. The module’s focus on practical, collaborative problem-solving equips students with the skills to integrate GCE into their future teaching practices.
